Disinfectant Salt Mouth Wash

Prep Notes

Salt has disinfectant, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory properties. It is isotonic, which means it contains the same salts and minerals our bodies do in equal concentrations.

Translation: it kills bad bacteria in your mouth, carries away toxins (spit it) and calms down inflammation. In long term with other mouth hygiene measures it will help your gums to heal, your teeth to strengthen and re-mineralize. Use it to:
  • calm inflammation after a dental treatment

  • in case of mouth wounds (tooth removed, sores, ulcers)

  • inflamed gums

  • even a sore throat

  • as a rinse after brushing teeth whenever you feel like it (kids just love it)

  • instead of a toothpaste for younger ones

  • simple project for kids (they are eager to do their dental hygiene then)

  • slightly on the acidic side >> just listen to your body and don’t use it when it doesn’t feel right

1 cup filtered water

1 teaspoon Celtic Sea Salt or other good salt

container with lid (I prefer glass one with plastic lid, metal will corrode)

Mix water and salt in your chosen container shaking well.
